If your kid is anything like mine, they love Chinese food and orange chicken! Well, I’m pleased to tell you there is a healthier way to give them what they love and do it at home!
Ingredients
- 2 lbs Boneless Chicken Breast Organic is best!
- 2 Large Brown Eggs
- 2 tsp Sriacha More to make it spicier
- 1 tsp Ginger Ground
- 1 cup Vegetable Oil
- 3 garlic cloves Minced
- 1/2 cup Orange Juice
- 1 tbsp Orange Zest
- 2 tsps Sesame Seeds
- Corstarch
- 1 cup Chicken broth
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/3 cup White Vingar Distilled
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce Low Sodium if possible
- 1 tsp Ground Pepper
- Vegetable Oil For cooking

Preparation
- Mince the garlic, ground the ginger, and zest the orange - set aside in a bowl. Cut up the chicken breast into small pieces (1" or smaller cubes) - set aside in a separate (large) bowl.
Create Marinade
- Whisk together the chicken broth, orange juice, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, orange zest, Sriacha, ginger, and white pepper in a bowl.
Marinade Chicken
- Pour 2/3 cup the marinade into the bowl of chicken pieces and combine together. Let sit for at least 20-30 minutes turning occasionally.
Heat Marinade
- Pour the remaining marinade (from original bowl) into a larger saucepan on the stove and heat (medium heat).
- Bring to a boil.
- Sift in (carefully) 2 tablespoons of cornstarch alternated with 2 tablespoons of water. Stirring frequently until thickened.
Prepare Chicken
- Fill one bowl with cornstarch
- Fill one bowl with the mixture of two eggs (egg wash)
- Set aside a large plate or pan
- Working one at a time, dip the chicken into the egg wash, then the cornstarch being careful to completely cover each piece. Lay each piece separately on the plate.
Cooking Chicken
- In a large pan or wok, heat some vegetable oil
- Add some chicken to the pan (do not over fill) and fry until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove and place on a towel covered plate or bowl.
- Repeat until all chicken are cooked
Serving
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked chicken with the cooked marinade
- Serve with rice
